 WHHS’s Alex Palmieri and Mckenzie Farquharson were honored on May 6th as the CIAC Scholar Athlete recipients.  Alex’s overall GPA is 4.1 and is a member of the baseball team.  Mckenzie is a member of the soccer, basketball and lacrosse teams with an overall GPA 3.7.  Also attending the dinner was Baseball Coach Mike Anquillare, Lacrosse Coach Chrystal Fanelli and AD Jon Capone.

 Pictured above is WHHS’s Dan Granfield receiving the Bob Greenwood Community Service Award from Jason Shea.  The award is sponsored by the West Haven Rotary Club and the luncheon was held May 16 at the University of New Haven along with its Scholar Athlete recipients. 


Pictured above are WHHS seniors Kyle Leyerzapf (left) and Mike Troiano (right).  Kyle was 1st team All State CT High School Coaches Assoc., CT Post All-State Team, New Haven Register All-Area Team, First Team Selection SCC, 2nd Team New Haven Register All-State.  Mike was named to the 1st Team New Haven Register All-State, New Haven Register All-Area Team, CT Post All-State Team, First Team Selection SCC, joined the 100 Point Club as a member of the WHHS Hockey Team.





On Tuesday April 24, West Haven High School was honored at the CIAC-Michaels Cup Awards Dinner for its participation in Unified Sports.  Attending the dinner that night from left to right;  AD Jon Capone, Coarch Bill McDermott, Coach Alison McBride, partner Amber Bonewicz, athlete Kyle Chacho,  parents of Amber and Kyle Ann and Peter Bonewicz, essay participant Sasha Richardson, Coach Lynn Mihalyak.



Pictured above is WHHS AD Jon Capone presenting the SCC Scholar Athlete for the month of March to seniors Alyssa Perez and Mark Berretta.  Alyssa is a member of the Volleyball, Swim and Tennis teams.  She has an overall GPA of 4.1 and is a member of the National Honor Society.  Mark is a member of the Cross Country and Outdoor Track teams and has an overall GPA of 3.5.

In preparation for the Veterans Day celebration game this Saturday vs Fermi, the junior and senior members of WHHS Hockey team along with the coaching staff visited the VA Hospital on Monday, February 6, 2012.  It was a rewarding experience for both the veterans and the members of the team.  The boys showed their appreciation for all the sacrifices that all the veterans made for our country.

Pictured above is WHHS AD Jon Capone presenting the SCC Scholar-Athlete Award for  December to Kori Wilkerson and Mike Last.  Kori is ranked 4th in her class with a GPA of 4.1 and was a four-year member and captain of the volleyball team.   Mike is ranked 7th in his class with a GPA of 3.9 and is a four-year member and captain of the football and lacrosse teams.

The WHHS Unified Soccer Team travelled to Amity High School on October 12th to participate in the SCC Soccer Tournament.  Their overall record was 3-1, with wins over East Haven, Jonathan Law, and Hamden.  Their lone defeat game from Amity.  They will move on next to the CIAC Tournament on November 9th at Staples High School in Westport.

Samantha has a 4.6 GPA ranked 2nd in the class, and is the captain of the swim team. Alex has a 4.1 GPA and is ranked 7th. He is a member of the basketball and baseball team.



On Labor Day, 5 WHHS teachers participated in the Stratton Faxon New Haven Road Race in the Team Competition.  After a summer of training, the WHHS squad captured first place in its division.  Pictured above (L to R):  Social Studies teacher Jason Kirck, Science teacher Nate Hill, Social Studies Department Chair Mark Consorte, Social Studies teacher Chris Pelatowski, and WHHS Assistant Principal Kurt Ogren.
