Grade Policy
Integrated Science Grading Policy

The breakdown of your grade is as follows:

Homework/Classwork -  25%

Quizzes - 25%

Tests - 25%

Labs/Projects  - 25%

Homework/Classwork   Homework is due when it’s assigned if homework is handed in late it will earn a maximum score of 50% NO EXCEPTIONS! If an assignment is a week late we will NO longer accept it and it will remain a zero.

Classwork will be assigned daily and will be collected by the end of class it is your responsibility to focus and work on your assignments and complete them by the end of the period.  Only students who are seen working on their assignments may take it home to finish.  Students who choose to waste class time and not work on their assignments will have their work collected at the end of the period and graded regardless of if they are finished or not.

Tests - You will be tested on every unit.  Tests will be given in a variety of formats such as multiple choice, short answer, essay, matching etc.  Test will be announced at least a week in advanced.

Quizzes – You will have a quiz every Friday on your “Do Now” work.  I will select two questions from the week to be on the quiz.  Being absent during the week is not an excuse to get out of the “Do Now” quiz, it will be your responsibility to get the question and answer from a classmate.  You will also have regular quizzes that will be given on an as needed basis.  Quizzes will be announced 1-2 days in advanced. Formats of quizzes will change depending on the content we are studying.

Labs/Projects - You will be given a variety of CAPT style labs, for these labs you will follow a very specific format, which will be given to you and gone over before our first lab.  We will also do a variety of independent and group projects.  More details as well as rubrics will be gone over later in the school year.

AP Environmental Science

Homework/Classwork   Homework is due when it’s assigned if homework is handed in late it will earn a maximum score of 50% NO EXCEPTIONS! If an assignment is more than two days late I will NO longer accept it and it will remain a zero.

Classwork will be assigned daily and will be collected by the end of class it is your responsibility to focus and work on your assignments and complete them by the end of the period.  Only students who are seen working on their assignments may take it home to finish.  Students who choose to waste class time and not work on their assignments will have their work collected at the end of the period and graded regardless of if they are finished or not.

Test retakes will be available for students who score below a 70 only if the student attends an extra review session during office hours.  The test format may change and you only be awarded partial credit for the re-take.

Labs/Projects/FRQ Notebook - You will be given a variety of labs to help you prepare for APES exam, some lab will require a formal write up others will require you to answer analysis questions.   We will also do a variety of independent and group projects.  More details as well as rubrics will be gone over later in the school year.  You will keep a Free Response Notebook which will be graded each marking period.  More details on the FRQ notebook will be given to you later.  

Astronomy

Video Assignments –Since astronomy is a branch of science that is difficult to observe because of the distance it is away from Earth it is important that we are able to make visual connections to the topics we are discussing in class.  When we watch these videos you will be given an assignment to do either during or after the video.  It is very important you pay attention during these videos, test and quiz questions will come from the videos.
