WEST HAVEN, July 28, 2014 — This year’s Little Miss Westie Pageant crowned Maddie Sutton as the event’s Overall Supreme Winner and showcased the talents of local girls, while also fundraising for the West Haven High School senior class.

The May 10 pageant was held in the WHHS auditorium and judged by representatives of the local pageant world, West Haven teachers and paraprofessionals, and coaches from the West Haven Pop Warner Seahawks cheerleading team.

The pageant was composed of multiple rounds, which include a dress-up portion, an interview for girls 4 years old and up, a round that encourages girls to wear something that shows their personality, and an optional talent portion.

The event offers awards in multiple categories and for the second year in a row also named a contestant as “Sean’s Angel,” an honor based upon the amount of donations each participant received in a donation bucket in the WHHS lobby. All contributions were put toward a scholarship to a WHHS senior in the name of Sean Pesce, who was injured last year in Afghanistan on a tour of duty. Contestant Cheyenne Lezcano was named “Sean’s Angel” and received military-style dog tags with the title for having the bucket with the most donations.

The following awards were also distributed: Pre-Teen Miss, Irene Ronan; Lil' Miss, Nora Mullins; Petite Miss, Maddie Sutton; Junior Miss, Isabelle Chambasis; Mini-Miss, Lyllianah Getman; Cover Winner, Cheyenne Lezcano; People's Choice, Autumn Boutin; and Community Spirit, Nora Mullins.

Additional awards were given in categories of best dressed, best costume, best sportswear and interview, among others.
