Roy Stober Jr., currently the assistant building manager at WHHS, was born in West Haven, CT, in 1970. He was inspired by Norman Rockwell's detailed artwork. He first started drawing at the age of 8. Roy is known for his detailed pencil drawings of Savin Rock Amusement Park, which operated in West Haven from the 1870s-1960s.
Roy's body of work ranges from pencil-drawn people, pet portraits, flash/line art, sign-making, glass etching, murals, photography, watercolor and colored marker. Also airbrushing of hockey helmets, leather canvas, windows and whatever else a customer would bring to him.
His work is featured in the West Haven Military Museum, local businesses, and also in various parts of the world, like China and Canada, as well as other parts of the U.S., including California and Ohio.
