On Wednesday, October 30th, Outreach Workers Richard Reynolds and Levi Jordan supervised 10 young men, from WHHS, of different ethnic backgrounds as they took a trip to Berlin High School for the "Men of Color Leadership Conference." This is a conference where over 30-40 different schools from all over Connecticut bring students of various backgrounds and ages to meet and hear from a panel of men and other students of color that are in leadership roles throughout the state. The Leadership roles ranged from the 1st Hispanic Fire Chief of New Britain, to one of the Executive producers from ESPN! Several of our students were able to make positive connections and began “networking” with a few of the panelists who presented. All of the young men were inspired and encouraged to "stay focused”, “stay present and locked in" and "always strive to do and be their best!"
Reminder: There will be NO SCHOOL for students tomorrow, November 5th, for Election Day. Teachers and staff will be in for a professional development day, preparing for more great learning ahead! Students, enjoy the day off!

On Monday, October 21st, we had the pleasure of welcoming some of our friends from Bailey for a tour of West Haven High School. Among them was Giancarlos Villegas, an eighth grader who naturally found the perfect spot to sit. As Giancarlos entered Mr. Bohan's office, Mr. Bohan graciously stepped aside, fully aware of Giancarlos's immense potential. Giancarlos is one of the kindest, brightest, and most welcoming students you'll ever meet. Every day, he goes out of his way to make meaningful connections, greeting everyone with a warm smile and a cheerful "good morning." His infectious positivity lights up the room and elevates the spirits of all who cross his path. Those who know him believe that one day, he will not only occupy Mr. Bohan's chair but perhaps even take a seat in the Oval Office. With his determination and talent, the sky is truly the limit for Giancarlos.
𝘍𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘴𝘵𝘪𝘤 𝘍𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘥𝘴 is a remarkable club that started at Bailey last year, uniting students of diverse abilities to foster meaningful connections and friendships. This year, members from both Bailey Middle School and West Haven High School are continuing their journey together, proving that distance can't diminish their bond. Last week, seventh and eighth graders visited the high school to reconnect with old friends and make new ones. They participated in engaging icebreaker activities, enjoyed a special breakfast, collaborated on a creative poster, and explored the school through a guided tour. It was an inspiring day of reconnection, celebrating the power of friendship among truly fantastic friends!
