On Saturday, March 2nd, 10 members of the WHHS Student Government / Interact Club performed community service by volunteering at the Dr. Seuss Read Across America book giveaway sponsored by the WH Rotary Club. Scholastic Publishing donated many books that were distributed to West Haven elementary school students. The event was held at the Masonic Lodge on Center Street.

On Wednesday, February 21st, three students from WHHS (on the left) competed against three students from Notre Dame HS in the 4-Way Speech Contest run by the WH Rotary Club at Lorenzo's Restaurant! The three Westies, from left to right, are Genesis Sikorski (10), Eshwar Balakumar (12), and Sabrina Sabol (12). Eshwar finished in 1st Place and will advance to a regional competition in early March. Genesis finished in 3rd Place.

The sixth-seeded West Haven High School boys’ basketball team defeated 11th-seeded Career, 57-41, in the first round of the SCC Playoffs last night. With the win, the Blue Devils advance to the quarterfinals and will play this Saturday, February 24th against third-seeded Xavier at Branford High School. The game is scheduled to start at 5:15 pm. This is a great opportunity for students to submit their pieces of work and compete against students from all over Connecticut. Six Debate Team members from WHHS competed in a competition at Yale University last Friday, February 9th, organized by the Yale New Haven Debate League which included several area high schools!
